REQUIRED for ACR team competency

duration: 3 days

Location : TBC but in christchurch

This is the most advanced of our general first aid trainings and the highest qualification a civilian can achieve before entering into a professional medical career.

 

It provides the knowledge and skills to deliver immediate advanced first aid assistance in any situation. The unit standards included are: Moving a patient in preparation for transportation (US 14473), provide basic pre-hospital emergency care (US 25412) and demonstrate knowledge and use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) (US 25411).

 

This is a hands on course- mostly scenario based- to ensure you  gain the confidence to use advanced resuscitation, CPR, extrication techniques and to familiarize you with emergency care equipment. A theory exam is completed at the end of the course.

  • ·         Extrication/ stretchers

  • ·         Moving patients in preparation for transportation
  • ·         Documentation requirements for handover to Emergency Medical Services (EMS)

 

Pre-requisites:

Current first aid certificate – one that has been completed or refreshed within the last two years & completed PHEC pre-course assignment.

What to Bring

You should expect to be doing activities outdoors.  Your SAR daypack, packed as if you were going out on a SAR callout would be appropriate, but should include:

 

•         Packed lunch, including a drink.

•         Suitable footwear for outdoor use.

•         Suitable footwear for indoor use.

•         Wet weather gear, jackets and pants (in case of wet weather).

•         Pen, pencil and notebook. Spare writing equipment.

•         Warm layers of clothing – top, bottom, hat and warm jacket.

•         Your personal First Aid kit and any personal medication.

•         SAR Hi-Vis Vest – bring your own if you have one.

•         All Pre-course work completed.

 

 

Pre-requisite for this course

Current First Aid certificate (LandSAR First Aid/ Workplace First Aid)

 

 

NZQA Unit Standards

Should you not have the NZQA Unit Standards, they will be applied within 21 days of course completion. You will receive a wallet card on the day of the course and an emailed copy of the certificate will be sent to you within 21 days of course completion.
