Location Mt Thomas assembly area for Oxford SAREX

The “Oxford SAR Group SAREX” is taking place on Mt Thomas on Sunday 1st February 2015.

If you are keen to attend this SAREX and represent our ACR team, as we have been invited to attend via Charlie at the Oxford group.

Plan:

The lost party for the scenario to make it like the real thing are organised to get lost for us, the radio base and incident management team are all organised for the bottom of the hill so all that is needed now is some “arms & legs” to go look for them!

There is no requirement to put your name down for this event now, just turn up and we will make up teams on the day.

Please ensure you have told someone your intentions for the day and have the appropriate clothing and gear. (Refer gear list at end)

If you are coming from another group other than Oxford and are in a position to bring along a VHF radio that would be excellent.

It will be full on day covering a number of skills. Here are just a few.

  • GPS navigation - grid references, marking waypoints.
  • Camp site processing.
  • Radio procedures - correct messaging format.
  • Processing decision points.
  • Uplifting footprints.
  • Processing a vehicle LKP.

Meet & sign in time is 0800 hours at the assembly area (AA) GR E1546188 N5217625 on the map.

Got any questions feel free to email me. charlie.dawson@clear.net.nz Will get back to you after 5th January 2015.

This is an official training day for Oxford members and will go on your training record.

ACR  crew please register your interest and I can forward over to Charlie direct for the day.

cheers
