Coastguard/Police/ACR team   SAREX

On the 3rd August (September) there will be a large Marine SAREX in the Canterbury region involving Police and Coastguard and we are keen on involving your ACR team if they are available.

The loctation for this is:

Site A- Motanau Island area on the sea cliffs top of Pegasus Bay

Site B- Pile Bay or Deep Gully Bay, Lyytelton harbour

Site C- Little Pideon Bay, Banks Peninsula

Just to confirm, annually the Police run various exercises each year around SAR, which is broken down into a land exercise and a marine version.

The scenario location is yet to be confirmed (weather dependant) but will involve extracting a casualty from a cliff edge down to one of our Coastguard boats.  We have both identified 3 possible areas and a decision will be made on which one is used nearer the date. There is a small amount of funding available for the exercise which is controlled by Phil Simmons, so if you need any for any reason please liaise direct with Phil.

Plan:

4 POD's are missing

1 of these POD's are to be located on steep vertical cliffs with no retreat, so needing ACR Specialist teams, Setting up of high directional tri-pod and and tracking line out to the rescue ship.

VHF handheld radios are to used to communicate to the teams and ships.
