The Wanaka LandSAR River Rescue Team are hosting a South Island River SAR (RSAR) workshop in Wanaka on 3-5 October 2014.
This workshop is intended for all LandSAR personnel who have already engaged in specialist training for SAR operations in moving water environments. The exact programme is yet to be decided but the aims of the workshop are:
The workshop will kick off (for those who can make it in time) with an evening session (introductions, discussion on practical workshop scenarios, and general discussion on the current state of RSAR) at 8pm on Friday 3rd October. Attendees will be encouraged to suggest skills and procedures that they would like to see covered during the workshop.
The event will be fully funded by LandSAR NZ, including travel to Wanaka, accommodation and meals.
From Mike A,
Please send names of members, who wish to attend the workshop, to Mike Ambrose as soon as possible and by 12 September at latest. Any questions regarding the event and suggestions for workshop content can also be sent to Mike in the first instance. Feel free to circulate this invitation to others who may be interested in attending.
Thanks for registering for the RSAR workshop. I have attached a programme and safety guidelines for the weekend, please familiarise yourself with these and with the equipment list contained in the programme.
There will be a sign-in sheet provided at the start of the event and we will ask that you provide details for an emergency contact person and of any medical conditions, that may be relevant to your participation in the practical scenarios.
Start time has been set for 8pm on the Friday evening. Please let me know, if you can’t make it to Wanaka by this time (then we won’t wait for you before getting started). Accommodation has been booked for all out of town participants, at the Wanaka Lakeview Holiday Park.
I’ve also attached a LandSAR expense claim form. Drivers should keep track of Kms travelled and submit their claim forms to me after the weekend.
I look forward to seeing you there.
Cheers
